Ascent Trip Report

What an excellent area for a hike! One of the most beautiful I have ever done back east. I hiked clockwise on the loop trail, heading over Pompey Mountain first, making a minor detour to the summit from the trail. The trail then heads to a junction below Pleasant where I headed up to the top, first finding the high points, then heading to the big rocks to the west. The view was amazing, just as the sun was setting to the west. You can see all the way down the Blue Ridge - great view! I put on my headlamp as I descended back to the junction and took the other half of the loop back to the car. I wish I had been able to get here just a little earlier and enjoy the hike out a little more.
