Ascent Trip ReportStarted just after dark on this one. I left the car around 8:45pm or so. Not the best laid plan, but I was all the way down here and didn't want to leave without it. I started at the road up Black Mtn, just north of The Doubles. There is a pull out on the right side and a berm blocking the old road up the Doubles. Take the old road up to just below the summit of the Doubles where you cut down on it to the right and join a better gravel road. Follow this to a T intersection around the low point just SE of the Doubles. Head right at this junction and continue following the road SE then SW. Even though your goal is to head SE, you head right here. It works. I pulled out my compass and map to verify. The last half mile or so to the Lee CoHP is pretty overgrown, but it wasn't too bad. You know you are at the proper place when the road is almost completely covered in ugly brown brush that is about 5 ft high and there is a big opening straight ahead/right. I went through this brush to where the road begins to steeply descend the ridge just to make sure that I had descended enough to find myself in Lee County. I then easily retraced my steps, stopping just above the car to head out to the Doubles and snag my final bonus bump of the day. I had my GPS along, but without any maps or waypoints, it was useless. I mainly had it as a safety precaution so that I could backtrack to the car if necessary and so that I would have a nice gpx track to upload to peakbagger. I actually did use it to track my distance traveled which did aid in my navigation. The distances indicated in Ken Oeser's report were very helpful.
My stats: 4.97 miles total 96 min moving time 12 min stopped 3.1 mph avg 7.5 mph max speed
