Ascent Trip Report

I bagan this ascent from the same parking spot as peak 10580 (see trip report for that one). My GPS heading took me over a small rise (and lots of downed trees) to a striking view of a big basin (probably the remnants of a volcanic caldera) in front of a small steep peak. Shortly I hit the fenceline between the Natl. Forest and the Rio Costilla COOP. I followed a road that loops around and then into the caldera, and then began bushwhacking uphill. I hit another abandoned forest track that reaches just over 10,200 before heading down the east side of the peak. The final bushwhack was very steep at first but leveled off as I hit the narrow spine that goes up to the hp.On the return trip I followed my GPS heading across the meadow.
