Ascent Trip Report

My long day's Glastenbury Loop began with "chanticleer" crowing the day in the hollow below Bald Mtn at daylight and ended descending to Rte 9 from Maple Hill with the sun setting, my downhill knees shot. I thought to walk / run my way & felt good reaching Goddard Lean-to & fresh spring water, up to Fire Tower views & West Slope, then back for fresh water and rest at Lean-to. My steps downward increasingly became deflated knees, though still managed some jogging along flats over a now clearer trail lingering to rest at lookouts, another H2O stop at Hell Hollow Brook Bridge, till final descent hanging over my poles, sup waiting in Bennington.
