Ascent Trip Report

From US 64 I took FR133 9.6 mi. north to FR419 west. 133 was not too bad although muddy in spots; a warning sign at the beginning cautions that the road is closed when wet; deep ruts in even slightly muddy spots suggested why. 419 is rough--and gets rougher the farther you go. I parked 4.1 mi. in and my GPS gave me 0.67 mi. to the hp coordinates.

This is really a high mesa with a bump more than a peak. On the way out I bushwhacked on a GPS heading through relatively thin trees to the big meadow with the high spot. On the way back I stuck mostly to the meadow. There's a jeep track across the meadow that goes almost to the hp, so maybe the forest road loops around to meet it.

The high spot is a clump of rocks near the drop off at the edge of the mesa. I found a jar with a trail log with one name--Mike Garrett of Co. . I presume he left the log. I enjoyed a nice lunch with expansive views to the north and west.
