|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Motorized Transport to Trailhead:||Car|
|Peak:||Les Pays-d'En-Haut High Point # 2|
| Elevation:||580 m / 1903 ft|
Ascent Trip ReportAn overgrown woods track with an easy bushwack ....... 2.4km, 1h45 hours RT.
PB shows 2 Candidate High Points for this County, I visited both, the first on 2010-11-19b (see its TR), however both can be easily done in one trip.
From the west end of Lac St-Joseph ...... where Chemin Massie in Saint-Adolphe-d'Howard leaves Hwy 329 for HP #1 (see its TR for the driving directions) ....... I continued 100M on 329, over the bridge, to a right on Chemin du Lac-des-Trois Freres, .8km left on Montee Sauvage, 4km parked the van, this was my TH at GPS 45.98029,-74.41322 ..... a much lesser road continues straight ahead, left leads to the property owner's house, right is a woods track to the summit.
I left the TH northbound on a rough/grass woods track for 175M to a small tall grass clearing (at west end of a long swampy area), where I stayed right on an old track that heads/winds/climbs (approx 50 degree compass) .7km to a height-of-land, GPS 45.98681,-74.41029. The track is heavily overgrown with chest high grass/shrubs for most of the way, slow going with poor footing.
From the height-of-land I followed/bushwacked a 105 degree compass line .3km to the obvious summit area, in beautiful open/mostly maple/deciduous woods, easy going.
I chose my HP spot 25M northeast of a large erratic rock, GPS 45.98645,-74.40626 exactly as per PB. I added a Plastic Canister with a Register.
When I got back to the TH a truck pulled up, the Land Owner wanted to know what I was doing. He didn't know that this summit was the CoHP contender, he thought it was the other one.
He owns most the land in the area including the Summit, apparently a European wants to purchase his land.
The nice gentleman had no problem with me being on his land, however I should have gone to the house for permission.
