Ascent of Mount Champlain on 2012-07-31| Other People: | Solo Ascent
| | Date: | Tuesday, July 31, 2012 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Motorized Transport to Trailhead: | Car | | Peak: | Mount Champlain | | Location: | Canada-New Brunswick | | Elevation: | 445 m / 1462 ft |
Ascent Trip ReportThere is a gravel road off of Brittain Rd. that leads to the summit and I'm not aware of any separate hiking trail. To make the ascent a bit challenging, I parked my vehicle near Brittain Rd. and hiked the 4-km road to the summit. It was a hot sunny day, around 32 C.
There are a number of communication towers at the summit, so I'll call this the Tower Rd. To access this road, take Rte 102 to the intersection for Victoria Beach and Days Corner, NB. Turn west onto the Days Corner Rd. and continue 3.1 km. At the T-intersection, turn left on Brittain Rd., and the Tower Rd. will be a short distance down on the right, across from the mailbox for civic address #1320.
Mount Champlain is the Queens County High Point.
