Ascent Trip Report

This was a very long hike that hit both Granite and Lincoln Peaks. We took the Lexington Creek road until it became blocked by large downed trees. The road had become very rough and difficult about a half mile before we stopped, and Joseph even chainsawed some downed aspens out of the way earlier. The jeep road continued beyond the downed trees, but soon gave way to animal trails and some woods. We eventually hit a treeless meadow, hiked up it to a steep rocky area, which ended in a low rock wall (easy Class 2 light scrambling here). It was a short distance to Granite Peak from here. After that we took a series of interconnected ridges to Lincoln, with quite a bit of drop between before going back up. The hike, which started before 7:00AM, ended in near darkness, so plan on a long day.
