Ascent Trip Report

This was a very long hike that hit both Granite and Lincoln Peaks. We took the Lexington Creek road until it became blocked by large downed trees. The road had become very rough and difficult about a half mile before we stopped, and Joseph even got out and chainsawed some downed aspens out of the way earlier.

We began hiking up the jeep road, which continued beyond the downed trees, but soon gave way to animal trails and some woods. We eventually hit a steep, treeless meadow, hiked up it to an even steeper rocky area, which ended in a low rock wall (easy Class 2 light scrambling here). It was a short distance to Granite Peak from here.

After a snack and some photos, we headed off the back side of the ridge on our way over to Lincoln Peak, hitting some fairly steep terrain and loss of a lot of elevation on the way down to the saddle which interconnects with Lincoln (see the Lincoln Peak trip report for the rest of the info.)
