Ascent Trip Report

PB gives 2 High Points for this County ...... Collines Nissing-South Peak and Colline Oditan. My plan was to summit both ..... I wouldn't get Oditan all as noted below.

COLLINES NISSING-SOUTH PEAK ...... a dense bushwack from the summit tower..... .6km, 45 minutes RT.
From the center of Macamic we drove east on Hwy 111 for 10.4km to a left on Rue Principal, 18.2km north to a right onto the Tower Road (unsigned/ungated good gravel road) that climbs .9km to the Communication Tower (GPS 48.91999,-78.85696) .... the actual HP is a bushwack 300 meters to the northeast.
I started my bushwack at the east side guy wire base, zig-zagged my way northeasterly in the dense brush to the summit HP area. A fairly large area with nothing really obvious. I just followed my nose to my chosen spot, checked it with my eye-level, GPS 48.92189,-78.85456. I added orange flag tape to the spot and I also flagged my route.

COLLINE ODITAN
From Nissing we continued north on Rue Principal for 4.7km to a left on the excellent unsigned gravel road, we drove west 7.8km (after the road jogs right and returns to its east-west straight line). A logging road heads east. We followed it for 1.4km where it became too rough for the van.
We met up with a local in a truck out to check his hunting camp. The retired guy has lived here all his life and never heard of Oditan, to him it's known as mountain Marcotte.
He said this road ends at a heavy swampy area, "No way you'll get through on foot".
He suggested I snowshoe the climb in the winter , "Ski-do trails go right over the summit.".
He informed us that they will start to log-out this whole area in the next few months. There is evidence of work already started .... the road is being upgraded.
I decided to abort and go back to the drawing board.

IT'S NOT THE SIZE OF THE MOUNTAIN IN THE CLIMB, IT'S THE SIZE OF THE CLIMB IN THE MOUNTAIN."
