Ascent Trip ReportCombined this trip with Porter. We were supposed to get thunderstorms starting just after noon so we started out early. After getting lost 10 minutes from home we got to the mountain at roughly 9:30. The hike up wasn't too bad at all. I'm incredibly out of shape apparently because I found some of the climb here to be more difficult than Giant. There were a lot of little toads (and I mean smaller than a dime) all over the trail. It was hard to watch where I was going and watch the toads at the same time. I just didn't want to step on any of them! Got to the split in the trail at 11:20 and did Porter's summit first. Cascade's summit was maybe 10 minutes after the split (probably not even). The views were great but the wind made it a bit nerve-wracking at times. Headed back down at 1:00. The way down wasn't bad at all. My knees were fine with minimal pain. Reached the trailhead at about 2:40 and then went for a dip in Lower Cascade Lake!
