Ascent Trip Report

EXTREME HIKE: 1-day hike to the summit.... WE MADE IT! Four person team: Myself, wife, sister-in-law and her husband. Started at 12:15am, finished 19 hours later.

We took a break at Trail Camp to add some more clothing. We needed the extra layering because it was so cold with the wind chill. Next we attacked the 99-switchbacks. They were tiring, but a steady pace made them just another part of the hike,

I was feeling the altitude sickness at 14,000 ft.... headache, dizzyness, etc. But I pressed on up the hill in spite of the symptoms which became worse the higher we climbed. We had planned for this trip one year in advance, so we all were committed to a successful ascent of this mountain.

The last 1.9 miles to the summit were brutal. LOTS of rocks. Seeing the hut at the top was a welcome site. We signed the guest book and took pictures.
