Ascent Trip Reportd # 47. Great hike! I really didn't think I'd get past the hut. Our group of 8 was the only one on the trail and we broke trail the entire way to the hut in fresh 6 -12 inch snow.
No tracks whats so ever and faded blue blazes, the map and compasses were put to good use, and Alex and Richard broke trail most of the way. A strenuous hike for all. Water crossings were easy with partial snow bridges. The snow condition was wet, packed or soft, depending on what part of the trail we were on. Any softer and it would have been a really tough hike. Snowshoes with a good crampon were essential.
