Ascent Trip Report

Dusty road hike past a few mining prospects. Rd crosses base peak at base of south peak, and north along west base of peak. Took south road to ridge on horizon and followed that gentler slope to summit. No summit box found, but inscription in rock by the namesource is very cool. Summit is covered in antennaes. Nice views, and viewing spot at south summit point.

Summit is platy weathered andesite, with peak of columns primarily on south aspect. On way down passed through sections of water-laid sedimentary volcanics, mudflow, coarsely crystalline arenite, limey mudstones. Below the base of the peak outcrop appeared evidence of petrified wood and jasper. Prospects near beginning of hike explored contact with west granite, with garnet, gossans, bleached rock and some possible dark metalliferous material.
