Ascent Trip ReportThe first hike after moving to Colorado, and the first hike since my visit with Dad in 1999. The trail is a loop starting and ending at Kite Lake near Alma. The trail bags three 14ers along with an unofficial 14er peak in Mount Cameron. The beauty of this trail is that it can easily be done in a dayand provides stunning scenery! The downside of this trail is that it officially is now closed because it repeatedly crosses over private property along the peaks. Enthusiasts hope to have the trail back open this summer after negotiating a deal between the state and the landowners.
