Ascent Trip ReportFrom the Hopewell Lake campground on US 64 between Tres Piedras and Tierra Amarilla, I headed south on FR 91B, a relatively good road. It winds around Burned Mountain heading towards Quarzite Peak. 9644 is just ne of Quarzite. A poorly maintained spur of a FR heads off 91B to the north side of the peak. The cows near our parking spot seemed disturbed by our presence, mooing their complaints for several minutes both on the way up and down. A short but relatively steep ascent with a bit of rock scrambling on the way up. On the way down we veered a bit farther east to avoid the steepest part.
