Ascent Trip Report

A snowbank stopped our vehicles at the 4350 elevation on Road 63. We hiked 63 and spur 102 around to the SW side of Purcell. From there we climbed a steep grassy slope to the S ridge near the junction of the 284 and 285 trails. Both appear to be abandoned. We followed the trail toward the summit until it disappeared under snow. We continued up to the summit and a fantastic view on this day.

Adams, Hood, St. Helens, and Rainier all visible along with High Rock, Storm King, Elbert, the Goat Rocks, and a thousand more summits. On the way down, we took the east slope but I would not recommend it. Steep and brushy with hidden drop offs.
