Ascent Trip Report

I took FR 134 out of Questa to FR 597. At the crest of FR597 there's a gated track heading to Greenie Peak. About 3/4 mi. later (sorry I didn't clock it on my odometer) I parked near a jeep track heading uphill. It wasn't too rough for the first several hundred yards--would be drivable, but it's a nice hike from 597. There's also a service road that goes to the microwave installation on top ( I believe from Red River; I don't know if there are access issues).

I followed logging tracks to about 10,300 and bushwhack from there over the usual fallen trees (not to bad). The last few hundred yards are very steep. Great views on top.

On the way down I followed the road a bit, but it put me increasingly west of where I wanted to be and unfortunately the bushwhack from there was rougher terrain and more roundabout than my route up.
