Ascent Trip ReportCaribou Valley Road is closed as of 7/3/12 between miles 3 and 4, about 1/2 a mile north of the Kingfield road. I was planning on going up Redington, but never found the herd path. The original goal was to go up Red via a system of old roads, but bridge closures destroyed that idea. So since I was already on South Crocker, I did follow a short path off the summit to the yellow-blazed AT swath. There were a group of hikers that thought this led to the Red herd path and that they made it to Redington. I followed their footsteps and made it about 200 feet west of the summit of Carter proper... so, there's two groups of us that have no idea where Redington is. I had the coordinates on my GPS, but I already tore through my shirt and really didn't feel like making my own trail alone and with thunderclouds growing, I turned back and climbed Sugarloaf instead.
