Ascent Trip ReportThe route is pretty straight forward, and the description on summitpost is pretty much dead on, but I'll add my route here for completeness.
Head south on 93 from Wells and after a few miles go right on NV 232 and look for an access sign (Week's Access) for the National Forest and start up the gravel road. Once you get to the forest boundary the road quickly deteriorates. If you want to get further on the road, high clearance and 4wd is a must, but only if you don't mind beating up your car a lot along the way. I have both and didn't even bother trying to get up further.
Anyway, as far as you make it up the road, just keep heading up the road along the ridge. The road disappears once you get to about the level of Lizzie's Basin, but you can follow some trails further up the ridge. Eventually the trails dive into the aspen along the cliff, so follow them down to the stream and hop over where ever there's room amidst the brush.
From the basin, head up the gully on the right in between the two rock outcroppings towards the ridge. After passing the rock cliffs on the left, you can start going left up the ridge. Keep to the right a bit near the top to stay away from the cliffs, and then its a quick stroll the last 100 feet or so to the summit, marked by a big metal rod. When you're done, just head down the way you came up.
From the forest boundary where I parked, it's about 2 miles and 2000' of gain to Lizzie's Basin. From there to the summit, it's a little over 1 mile and about 2700' feet.
Anyway, when I was there I was surrounded by swarms of flies all the way to the summit and found a couple of ticks crawling on me, but it's a really gorgeous area and well worth the effort.
Last piece of advice: start as early as you can! I started about 8:30 and it was already terribly hot trudging up the road, making that stretch a lot worse.
