Ascent Trip Report

Great ride up in the mid 60s n sunny. Exposed 2 hr jeep ride up Yankee boy basin. Parked jeep .5 miles below trail head sign and slept the night@ 12,141ft. Nice cool evening. Great hike up scree to main coluer. Used crampons & poles to ascend about 200ft made left up smaller coluer & removed cramps to hike some 3 exposure to get to summit @ 14150ft.I carried 30LBS.Marmots were nice to me all afternoon and evening as i enjoyed the eastern view of the Rockies. Slept fine all evening as i devoured the stars and great dry weather with highs in 60s lows in upper 20s. Awesome sunrise and a great hike down. totally awesome 1st. 14er.
