Ascent Trip Report

Start at Newfound Gap. Long hike. First and last 3 miles went quick. Lost all gain after Jumpoff then regain to summit. No views from summit. Just a large pile of rocks to the left of the trail. Lunch .2 further at shelter. Rock slide area is a bit tricky. Use cable for handhold. Elevation gain is spread out over milage so no intense climbing. Detoured up Mt Kephart on return. Short rocky climb to basically unmarked summit. There's a tree on the right at high point. Orange summit marker is in the grass to the right of the trail. Went back to Newfound Gap via AT. Saw deer at shelter and on Boulevard just below Kephart. Boulevard is unmarked but easy to follow.
