Ascent Trip ReportStarted at Columbine campground, followed the TCT to the right till the open meadow where the trail forks (Stewart Creek). We ascended up the old jeep trail to the high bowl, traversed with the trail down to the saddle before the summit push. VERY windy along the traverse and up to the summit. Winds out of the SW, high gusts on any high point and in the saddle. Moderate trail from the saddle to the peak turned out to be a quick push to the top. Weather was clear and windy during the entire ascent. After descending to the saddle and traversing across the bowl, we took the northern part of the loop back to Columbine. This is a great way to get back to the camp ground! Steep desert canyon walls, good views to the north, and awesome groves of trees with plenty of shade to help with the late afternoon sun. Fun hike and a cool CHP!
