Ascent Trip Report

The last peak in our Currant/Duckwater trip. The traverse over from Currant was pretty tough. The first part involved dropping off the West face onto very loose scree and talus. The terrain here was very steep and treacherous, and one party member (Lindsey) took a fall that nearly resulted in a catastrophic injury had she not hit a tree that stopped it early. From there it was a knife edge ridge, some elevation loss, then the plodding ascent of Duckwater. I hit my head on a tree branch near the summit that rang my bell (stupid cap obscured my view). The descent was absolutely miserable. Collin, Eric, went back down to pick up Lindsey who did not summit. They took a steep gully down to the road and met Lori and her truck who had driven up to meet them. Jose, Anji, Melinda and I went on a ridge, then took the wrong ridge after some debate leading us much too far North. We eventually met Lori in her truck who took us back to the campground. Melinda was nearly at the point of passing out. All of us were very, very tired and out of liquids. No times/GPS track is available but the whole outing was over 14 hours.
