Ascent Trip Report

PB gives 2 Candidate High Point Areas for this County, we went to both. We followed Michael Schwartz's TR as a guide.

AREA 1 (south of Diamond Hill Church) ..... a climb of 200 yards, 15 minutes RT.
We got off of I78 eastbound at exit 40 and traveled north on CR531 for 1.12 miles to a right on Mountain Avenue, 2.5 miles turned right on Grassman Place, .37 miles turned right on Killarney Drive and parked in front of house #185.
Between house #185 and #195 is a driveway that climbs 100 yards to the Water Tank.
I walked the area between the tank and the near-by houses, very open woods, and picked my HP spot at 25 yards southwest of the tank, GPS 40.40.67229,-74.41194.

AREA 2 (northeast of Governor Livingston High School) ..... .5 miles, 30 minute RT.
From Area 1 we returned to Mountain Avenue and drove northeast on Mountain Road for 1.5 miles to a right onto Murray Hill Road which took us directly to the parking lot for Governor Livingston High School. We parked here.
I walked magnetic east to the furthest Sports Field (baseball) at about 400 yards. No question this whole area has been graded flat and therefore no natural ground to speak-of.
For my HP I walked east of the field, 25 yards to higher ground, in the tall grass/bushes, and chose my spot at GPS 40.69157,-74.38064.
I returned to the parking lot and I must say that this area has ground that vies for the HP, just north of the parking in the line of trees. The best thing to do is to touch all bases ....... except for those on the baseball diamond of course.
