Ascent Trip Report

Took the trail up from East Lake. Started out in patchy snow but as I ascended the cover continued to increase to the point I could no longer follow the trail and the tress were not blazed. I had promised my wife I would be back down to our rented house in Sun river by 5:00 PM to meet our son and daughter-in-law for dinner. By the time I reached the crater rim I had run out of time, and with no hope of following the same route down I didn't know how long it would take to get down. So I turned around at this point. Will have to try again another year. I did get down in time to summit the southern high point of the Central Pumice Cone and make it back to Sun River by 5:30. A little late, but normal for me.
