Ascent Trip ReportAT northbound to a gravel road ....... 6 miles, 2h35 hours RT
This is a straight forward hike, easy access. From the AT TH parking at Wind Gap I climbed the AT northbound for 2 miles to the gravel service road for the summit Towers. I left the AT by turning right onto the service road for 1 mile to the summit ..... a large open area with a carpet of low bushes houses 6 Communication Towers. A 12 foot diameter light-blue-colored Dome sits to one side of the Towers.
The high ground is to the north and east of the Dome but nothing obvious. I walked the area in knee high bushes, picking my spot at 40 yards north of the Dome at the edges of the woods, GPS 40.88481,-75.26089. Added an orange flag tape. I returned the same way.
"PENNSYLVANIA, PENNSYLVANIA, MAY YOUR FUTURE BE FILLED WITH HONOR EVERLASTING AS YOUR HISTORY," ........ chorus from State's song.
