Ascent Trip Report

We found the trail head without trouble and paid the $5 for an hour use of the park. Most of the route up is wood steps through a forest of tall trees. At the top we found the highpoint to be under the first flight of the lookout tower, so I crouched down for my summit photo. On top of the tower we found an amazing view in all directions. Moraine mounds and kettle lakes dot the landscape, and at least one other highpoint (Washington County's Holy Hill/North Holy Hill/Unnamed Point) is visible. If you are in bad weather I would hold out for view on a better day for the cost of the hike. We were there just after a heavy rain band and a few hours before sunset. I disagree with this being called the easiest Wisconsin highpoint. Winnebago County's road right-of-way highpoint is public yet free and almost a drive up.
