Ascent to Twin Peaks-Summit Pinnacle on 2012-06-15| Date: | Friday, June 15, 2012 | | Ascent Type: | Unsuccessful - Turned Back | | Point Reached: | Twin Peaks - Summit Pinnacle | | Location: | USA-Oregon | | Elevation: | 9663 ft / 2945 m | | Remaining Elevation: | 10 ft / 3 m (0% left to go) |
Ascent Trip ReportThis attempt was more of a recon trip. I wanted to take a look at the rotten rock pinnacle to see what would be needed to make a "safe" attempt. The north side of the rock block appears to be the most solid. A semi flat platform is located half the way up the pinnacle and with a couple protected moves (if that's possible) the true summit can be reached. I wasn't comfortable making a solo attempt at the final 10'. I'm planning on making a second attempt sometime in 2012. As of the date of my first attempt the road to the trailhead was blocked with snow from a spring/winter slide about a mile from the TH.
