Ascent Trip ReportI turned south off rt64 onto an unmarked forest road about a mile and half past the Hopewell Lake campground. Shortly after the entrance gate the road forks. I veered right. I went slightly less than a mile down this very rough 4wd road, and parked at a spot 0.9 mi. from the gps hp coordinates. My route took me up over one ridge about 80 feet higher than my parking spot and then down about 250 feet to the base of the mountain. The west and south flanks are quite steep, so I veered southeast, finding a use path up to the top of the ridge leaving about 250 yards to the hp coordinates with only very minor further elevation gain. Great views from the top where you can see the whole area between Tres Piedras and the Brazos Cliffs--really one large rolling high plateau on which the several ranked peaks are really more like bumps atop the rolls than substantial peaks.
