Ascent Trip ReportWe decided to do Giant and Rocky Peak Ridge (RPR) as an out and back hike, rather than the longer thru hike from New Russia. The trail to RPR was located about .1 of a mile from the summit of Giant, and was roughly 1.2 miles to the summit of RPR. Descending into the col we found to be very difficult with several steep descents down bare rock. It didn't help that the rock was very wet and muddy. The ascent up to RPR was easier, but still more difficult than anything we had faced prior.
The summit of RPR was large with many different areas to explore and views to taken in. The black flies made the experience somewhat less enjoyable, but it was that time of year.
The return trip was much easier to Giant, although at this time we were becoming fatigued.
