Ascent Trip Report

Entered from the South near Champion via the 607/Hudson/Pashekee road. It was paved for the first 9 miles and then it turned to dirt. The dirt road was actually nicer than the paved part up until the last 3 miles where it got pretty bumpy. I ended up driving out through Skanee but crossed one creek and honestly the other creek may as well have been a river because it was a solid 30’ across and 2’ deep...didn’t help that I was towing a 5x8 enclosed trailer...but the Subaru took it all in stride.

If you don’t mind back tracking and occasionally getting lost then by all means enter from the south and follow the mystery roads your GPS will conjure up for you to turn down. If you aren’t that excited about taking the wrong right or left then I’d enter from L’Anse. The road from there is well maintained and all you have to do is follow the signs to the top.

?The view from the top is pretty but I heard there are better views within a short distance. Look for the giant slashed hillside just a couple miles beyond the HP turnoff, that’s where the local told me to go for a view. Nice little picnic area at the HP.
