Ascent Trip Report

Started a steep climb up from Rte 9N at a State Forest signed boundary line with an off road parking area, weaving up past dead end ledges following a ravine with deer track leading the way to a ridge (a pebbled solstice circle on flat rock above ravine looks out northwest into valley of forest and hills) again climbing up herd paths to a final rocky pitch meeting a cairned but faint path going up and around high rounded, rocky outcrops to summit and benchmark. I gave up following cairns north into thickets on a flat of rock which looks west over Elizabethtown and instead tried going upslope around to southward the high rocky summit getting into a pitch of rock climb to keep going. Many views east, south and west on final climb. The summit shows old signs of logging and lots of ledge to explore which can be seen from E-town. I found cairns again at top. The path led down easily with care past steep rocky drop-offs to safer ground. The small cairned, faint path continued west where my marked GPS waypoint returned me south to my ridge and steep ravine way down to stream and road.
