Ascent Trip ReportHot sun and blue sky notwithstanding, quite extensive snowfields still blocked the path from the quarry car park. I skirted onto the ridge to get above the snow and found the way barred by a tangle of dwarf beeches. attempted to get through these, I was upended by a springy branch, landing quite heavily on my chest. Retreating and taking another route by the now roofless Sicilian Alpine Society hut, I managed to find a way through the vindictive little trees and onto a summit ablaze with golden asphodel. Etna to the south-east, a wild mountainscape west and too much haze to make out the Aeolian islands to the North. Made a circuit via the wonderfully-named Pizzo Antenna Grande and bouldery descent to the main track that meets up with a geological trail near the ski resort buildings.
