Ascent Trip Report

This is an incredibly beautiful area. In terms of the approach, there are great (suitable for passenger cars) roads to the area from either Hiko or Rachel. The road deteriorates substantially after the ranch at (38.063845,-115.669858). If you get to the intersection where I stopped, I suggest you walk the road north a bit- there is a steep rocky decline, that if one can pass, one can drive probably another mile or so.

The road continued up to and past where we turned off to climb the ridge, despite it being labeled a "pack trail" on the topo map. That said, the road appears mostly used by ATVs and is not very friendly for larger vehicles. The ridge was steep but the ground was usually good, with enough vegetation for shade, but not so much that bushwhacking was often required. The views from the top were amazing!
