Ascent Trip Report

This straightforward route is thoroughly described in previous reports. As others have indicated, the road quality is substantially better than you would expect given the warning signs at the beginning. However, it is a narrow road with steep drop offs and no guard rails. I parked right by the locked gate for the observatory. My GPS readng was 0.19 the hp coordinates. Several previous visitors scrambled straight up to peak. I elected to wiggle through the gate and walk up the road to the sign with "South Baldy" and an arrow. A road like track goes to within a few feet of the top. This route is a one mile round trip but less effort than the direct scramble.

Great Spot!!
