Ascent Trip Report

On 85 I looked for Angelo Draw, but couldn't find it. I eventually turned on Cold Creek Road to find a different way to the highpoint. Although it is signed as Cold Creek Road, this was the Angelo Draw I had tried to find. Cold Creek Road does not follow the creek like the topo shows, but rather climbs the hill and goes under the large power lines. Just past the cattle grate on the state line, I drove to the next left turn and parked there. I saw a logging road, but instead followed the state line fence. I only hiked for ten minutes before coming upon the high ground. None of the coins previously mentioned are still in the fence post. I suppose a poor county highpointer took them to buy a Snickers bar. To avoid this problem I pounded in a "No Cash Value" token into the post. Earlier and later on the state line fence has fallen over. I had to hike a bit further south along the fence to check out the second contender fence post, and I'm not certain which is higher. On the way back I followed the logging road, which crosses the state line before the highpoint. To avoid bushwhacking and rambling, the logging road is a good option to hit the state line fence just north of the highpoint. There were very few glimpses of far off hills and the sunset through the trees.
