Ascent Trip ReportSeveral chp'ers reached this hp in the previous decade. See trip reports on the CHP web site. The area is now virtually inaccessible. At the access others apparently used I found a large locked gate. All of the property is now surrounded by a continuos steel mesh 8 foot + high fence (not the kind even the most adventurous scofflaw is likely to leap!) inside of the older barbed wire fences. I searched for alternate access. There is a long drive headed south from the east-west road about 2/3 of a mile north of the hp. I drove in a knocked on the door of the house. A friendly woman and her young son greeted me. She welcomed me to search for access across her fields, but cautioned that I was unlikely to have any luck and apparently I wasn't the first chp'er to try this route. Some "rich folks from Dallas or Houston" bought the property a couple of years ago, and put up the imposing fences. They fly in occasionally with friends to use the land as a hunting reserve. I did wander across her fields to the mega fence. The closest I got to the hp coordinates was about 400 feet. The highest land on this side of the fence is, by my estimate, no more 3-4 feet lower than the high spot on the other side, but unless I'm mistaken that's enough of a differential that I can't claim a successful ascent. Probably no one else will either in the near future.
