Ascent Trip Report

Dickie the ace navigator managed to turn a drive up into a 3/4 mi. walk. Oh well, it was a pleasant afternoon. From OK 37 about a mile north of the HP coordinates I turned south onto something my map labeled N2650 Rd. but the street sign had another name altogether (sorry, I forgot to write it down--a harbinger of the general confusion I displayed for this event). From the turnoff it looked like I was headed to the base of a microwave tower that I had been noticing for some time. When I spotted a track heading to the tower I turned right and parked a few yards down at a locked gate. But after I hopped the gate and headed down the track, my GPS insisted on pointing to spot a couple of hundred yards south of the tower across a field. "Fool dolt!" exclaimed the genie who lives inside this magic machine, "Why did you pay over $200 for me if you won't pay attention to what I say?" So I hopped a fence and headed diagonally on the GPS coordinates to what certainly was a higher spot than the tower base about 0.3 across the field. When I got there I discovered a road went within a few feet of the spot. I walked back down this road, turned left onto the n-s road with the name I forgot to my Jeep.
