Ascent Trip Report

GPS address is 3900 Chesapeake St NW, Washington DC.

Park on the street across from Woodrow Wilson High School and follow the gravel path NE toward Deal Junior High. The oversized BM is atop the grassy knoll to the R of the tree line.

I'll accept the surveyors' opinion that this is the highest natural point, though the 410 contour around the reservoir is much larger and parts of the natural slope near the soccer field appear to be near the same height as the BM. If you're a legalist, you can walk the perimeter of the base of the reservoir to be sure.

When you enter this ascent in Peakbagger, you get a pleasant surprise in your List of Lists--a green 100 percent in the category DC High Point. I'm now an advocate for DC statehood so that I can get a green state on my map.

My 105th COHP.
