Ascent Trip ReportAs in February the plan was to take Espinoza trail from Japatul Valley road and climb the peak from the south-west saddle. It was snowing lightly as we left the trailhead. As we climbed the snow fall was increasing as well as the snow on the ground. As we were climbing towards the south-west saddle John slipped and badly twisted his knee. When we reached the saddle the snow was still comming down, there was about six inches on the ground and very little visibility at all. We decided that in those conditions without crampons we had better turn arround.
On the drive back to the 8 as I rounded the corner there was Keith in his bronco pointing backwards up at me from a ditch along the road. With help from other drivers we were able to push him up out of the ditch and then I escorted him around the other way thru Alpine to the freeway.
