Ascent Trip Report

After eating lunch at Subway, Erika and I parked on Gould Rd and started toward the Bellows Pipe trail. I did a quick run back to the car because I forgot something and had to start again. This added an extras 0.3 miles to the trip. We hiked up the bellow Pipe Trail at a moderate pace although we stopped a couple times for pictures. We crossed over the Thunderbolt trail but decided to stay the course. We didn't feel like walking up a ski slope.

We took a left at the Bellows Pipe onto a trail that is on the park map but appears to be unnamed. This brought us straight to an intersection with the Appalachian Trail and North Road. They didn't all converge at one spot but after a quick jaunt to the north on the Appalachian Trail it was clear to see the convergence was to the south.

We decided to make a quick trip to Robinson's Point which was to the west. The trail was the most interest trail of the whole trip and it was .61 miles round trip. The view to the west from Robinson's Point was very good and there was a steep slope downwards from the lookout point.

We retraced our stepos back to the Appalachian Trail and followed it to the top. There were 2 women at the the top who were the only people we saw the entire time. We spent 39 minutes at the top before heading down.

We had a little difficulty finding the Gould Trail from the top. there was a sign for it near the restroom but it was very unclear where the trail was. Eventually we found it and headed down it. We took a left onto Peck's Brook trail. As the terrain flattened we missed a right turn and ended up in someone's (private?) open field. We retraced our steps and found out the correct way was to stay closer to the river. At this point we were not far from the car so it wasn't as though we were lost - we just didn't know where exactly the trail went to get to the road that we knew was there. Once we figured it out it was a short easy walk from there.
