Ascent Trip ReportMount Langley (14,042 ft) is located on the crest of the Sierra Nevada. On Sat Sept 18, 2010 four of us drove up to Lone Pine, obtained permits and after a lunch of bihari kabab rolls, hit the 6.5-mile trail to Cottonwood Lakes. Some members of the team got there on Friday & others followed later. It was cool but clear with overnight lows in the low 30s. Day 2: four of us headed for the summit and the rest returned to civilization. The 4-mile hike to the summit of Langley took us thru some windy, sandy, scree-filled terrain. Summit winds were some of the fiercest we had encountered encouraging us to head down the 10.5-mile trail to our cars. All in all a good, challenging hike of the southernmost >14,000 ft California peak.
