Ascent Trip ReportGot to the parking area by 9:30 am. It was cool when we arrived. Headed up the forest road until we reached the col between East Rusk and Hunter. Took a short break here then headed west into the woods and up along the ridge. The hiking wasn't particularly difficult until we reached the summit of East Rusk which was covered in a pine forest that had a lot of underbrush. Once past East Rusk, the going went easier and we were able to follow a herd path from there almost all the way up to the summit of Rusk. After having lunch and signing the log in the canister, we headed back down to the col between Rusk and East Rusk. At that point, we decided to turn right and head on a direct line down the steep side of Rusk for the forest road. We finally reached the forest road and returned to the car about 30 minutes sooner than we would have going back over East Rusk.
