Ascent Trip Report

Very impressive houses and horse farms around here! I parked at the main office of Mountain Lakes Park and hiked the 1.5 miles to the high point. There is a road that is paved most of the way, but after about a mile a gate was up closing the road to all but 'registered campers.' It being pre-season there wasn't a soul past the first lake, so it might have been unlocked. Anyway, when you get to the gravel section of the road that splits, keep going northeast for about 20 yards. The good folks at the park have put up a sign marking the trail to the top of Bailey Benchmark. Green Blazes will take you to the top. If you continue to the other side of the ridge, you will find another group of cairns, which can be confusing if you come from that way.
