Ascent Trip Report

Cécilia and I had been in school since Christmas and we decided to have a little hike\overnight camping during the school break of March. Mont Mégantic just came in our mind as a good place to go for winter camping. I had been there before with friends and I knew that the trails were well maintain and the view from the summit was beautiful. So we drove from Québec city on Sunday 28 and arrive at Mont Mégantic Park mid-afternoon. After paying the fees for the overnight camping we started hiking toward our camp site. When we got there, it was getting dark so we prepare our dinner and when to bed. The next morning we woke up early and had a breakfast in our tent. Then, we dress up for the day. Weather was gray outside and visibility was limited. As we left our tent behind us the trail leaded us smoothly towards summit of Mont Mégantic. We stood on the summit after 2-3 hours of walk and take a look at the observatory that belong there. We try to take a peak of the landscape around the mountain but the weather wouldn't permit us to see more than a kilometer or so. After a quick lunch we hike back to our tent, pack everything and hike back to the car.
