Ascent Trip ReportNorth Lake's northwest shore road gated, late start (after Oswego Cty HP) still a walk / jog took me quickly out to North Lake's end and lumber road's turn east (except one wrong turn beyond the lake, followed a mostly direct GPS course east); I went mostly by main road eastward to a turn uphill along a newly cleared lumber road (lost sneaker in its mud on the night's way back which gaiter saved from muck gobbling with lucky me a rock seat at hand), another junction beyond followed old overgrown tote road ending about two miles from summit in wet thick spruce and snow remnants with fresh cat track across it. The thick brush of the woods, evergreen and wetland between hillocks was hard to weave by, avoid. The summit actually showed a surprising faint sign of road, and my way back seemed to fitfully follow an opening in the gloom that led me back to my snow prints and my improving trail into fresh mud and solid road. Finally at main road refreshed my water, went on enjoyed the evening, rested at a peninsular lake shore campsite, finished with a very short jog to trail head, and at midnight a change of shoe for the drive home.
