Ascent Trip ReportI was surprised no one else on peakbagger had logged an ascent prior to me posting this report, though I found a cool trip report with photos online. Mt. Sylvania is a Multnomah Co. p500 with extremely easy access.
If northbound on I-5, consult a map for the best access. If southbound, take exit 295 for Capitol Hwy. and turn right and right again to cross over the interstate. Continue on Capitol Hwy until it veers and becomes SW 49th. At the light at PCC, turn left on Hidalgo, right on Becket, and left on Nansen Summit. Park on the circular road. The highest point is in between the center of the park and a house, where BM Sylvania is found. A nearby moss-covered rock has a witness marker. Nice views in several directions and Nansen Summit Park is pleasant. Snow was falling, but not sticking.
