Ascent Trip Report

Ended up being in the right place at the right time. On the way to this highpoint, we stopped in Tyrone, PA. They were having their Saint Patrick's celebration, which included food and a parade. We hung out for an hour, had some Hot Dogs and enjoyed the beautiful day. Headed up 453 and stopped at the entrance to the road to the summit. It is posted that you must check in with the company that owns the wind turbines, so I parked and let TGE hang out and read her book while I hiked up the hill. I should have driven up, as it was just a half mile or so, and there was a truck parked against the gate already. I should note that the FAA has posted the summit area. That funny looking building is actually the Tyrone VOR. As a pilot, I use that navigation facility all the time!
