Ascent of Kitt Peak on 2012-03-16
|Others in Party:||Harlan Stockman|
|Date:||Friday, March 16, 2012|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||6880 ft / 2097 m|
Ascent Trip ReportThe road goes virtually to the summit, but we wanted some exercise so we parked by mile marker 9 and walked up the last three miles.
To get to the natural high point, one does need to do a bit of scrambling and/or bushwhacking.
The views are better from the peak when looking directions other than south (the big telescope is south) than from the big telescope's observation deck which is inside and forces one to look through dirty glass. But since the observatory blocks the view south, one has to go there to see Baboquivari peak and/or the rest of the observatory.
